It’s not a vegan place, “Vegano” means “from Vega, D.R.” in this context lol. Seems like a family vibe.

I am visiting New York from California, and happened upon this place. This is a small little eatery, with a homelike feeling to it. The service wasn't the best, meaning it's just not a customer comes first type of feel. I think the air is like, we are cooking very good reasonable food, you can either take it or leave it; and it was sooo good, I'd take it time and time again! Go for the food, not for the service! Absolutely delicious!

Delicious food, amazing quality meal. I had the rabo with arroz and habichuela. I cannot wait to go back. My husband had the pollo al horno with morro de guandules. The morro was delicious And my husband said the chicken was delicious.

If you’re craving authentic Dominican flavors in the heart of New York City, El Rinconcito Serie 56 is a gem worth discovering. Nestled on 1650 St Nicholas Ave, this cozy Dominican restaurant serves dishes that offer a genuine taste of the Caribbean, with a warm, family-style atmosphere that resonates throughout the space.

El Rinconcito’s culinary highlights truly steal the spotlight. The Pescado Frito (fried fish) is a must-try: perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful inside, it captures the essence of traditional Dominican seaside cooking. Another standout is their Cheese Mofongo with Chicken Sauce. Mofongo, a classic Puerto Rican and Dominican staple made from green plantains, is elevated here with a rich, creamy cheese twist complemented by a savory, comforting chicken sauce that melds beautifully with each bite.

What impresses me most is the attention to detail and the care with which these dishes are prepared. From the moment you step in or place a call for pickup, the friendly service mirrors the heartfelt flavors on your plate. The balance of robust Dominican spices and the freshness of ingredients creates dishes that feel both nostalgic and vibrant.

Beyond the headline dishes, customers rave about the consistency and quality — from perfectly cooked beans bursting with flavor to “chicharrón de pollo sin hueso” (boneless fried chicken) that satisfies every craving for crispiness without excess grease. The baked salmon and roast chicken options also demonstrate the kitchen’s versatility in maintaining traditional tastes while offering variety.

El Rinconcito Serie 56 is more than just a restaurant; it’s a little corner of Dominican culinary culture thriving amid New York’s diverse food scene. Affordable prices and a welcoming vibe make it easy to see why locals return time and again. If you’re seeking authenticity paired with comfort, this spot delivers with style and soul.
